Capturing successful strategic change

The challenge:

Over a number of years a concerted strategic effort had been made to refocus the innovation process. Though the framework was becoming established, key learnings such as how people worked together, how decisions were made and how the process was created, were less well understood. And in a fast-paced operational environment they could have easily be forgotten.

The solution:

Working closely with the senior management team we produced an in-depth business case study which was was published and distributed across the management team.

The case study was based on lengthy interviews with key figures; Presidents and VP's who were responsible for driving and implementing this major strategic change. The information was collated and analysed against the McKinsey 7S model. In this way we were able to highlight the key decision points, options and opportunities and importantly identify the key ways of working that brought about successful change.

This was then translated into a engaging and accessible story documenting their remarkable journey.

The benefit:

Creating an easy to read account of how successful change came about with new ways of working and decision making, means that key elements of knowledge, not always easily identified, have been captured and documented. And this 'story' format can be readily used with managers and new joiners to demonstrate the importance of teamwork within their unique culture.
